Anybody have any idea where this came from? There's no face value on it but is from the lunar series of coins.

Is it hard to find?

That piece comes with the Lunar series one box. It is the centerpiece with place holders for the 12 coins around it.

tens of thousands of the first $15 sterling silver lunar series coins were minted. However, only a fraction of display boxes for the 12 coins were produced. The medal is the centrepiece in that display box. ~$100 value I would say.

After I found out about it I picked one up off ebay back in June for $57.63 total including taxes & shipping. Glad I got it when I had the chance seeing what this one's going for!
Rest in Peace

15 minutes remain - this would be more rare than the 1998 tiger that usually gets premium pricing. Anyway, now it's up to $152.00

But the last lunar series was kind of boring, you could see the same 12 zodiacs on each coin, just switching the one in the center each year.. quite repetitive. I like the current series a lot more.

Repetitive yes but very orderly and complete-looking in a set.
