Hello everyone Something pretty interesting has come up recently, it would appear that some silver coins "farewell to the penny" 20$ for 20$ of the mint have a die clash. I'd love to say I was the one who found out, but I wasn't. Still, I figured this was interesting enough to post. http://numicanada.com/forum/viewtop...f=12&t=16518You can see pictures on this topic, it's pretty clear it's a clash. I've found 2 myself, I'll try to post pictures of my own later on. After a pretty limited survey, we have found 9 out of 59, odds are many of you have it. I'd like if you guys could contribute to increase the sample and have a better idea of the occurence of that mistake. Another interesting fact, the clash can be on 1 side or both, haven't broken down the stats in regard to that. Looking forward to your input, and hope some of you can find it!

Yes it is interesting to see that more than one kind has been noticed. The one I have matches the first the double die clash in Numicanada forum. I don't read french But I get the jist of it. There is a second clash above the left water ring above the date(2012). I have actually seen them strike collector coins one at a time and can not believe they could not catch that one. Not once , not twice but how many times?

Ok, there are pictures in the link I posted, but here are some pictures of my own. So on the pictures, you can see a clash mark of the queen's back neck and hair under the left part of the right leaf, it goes through a water ripple. The second visible mark is from the queen's chin and neck, under the left leaf's first water ripple. Then, on the other side are the corresponding marks as well, the leaf's twig and water ripple forming a cross behind the queen's neck, and a vertical line under her chin coming from a water ripple, I didn't put a picture because I can't get one where you see it, the mark is a little faint. So, I'd like to know how many of you have this die clash, and if it's only one sided, or on both sides.

Thank you Castor, it makes it much easier to picture the areas of clash. A picture is worth a thousand words :)

So I'm at 12 out of 84, so 14% of coins have the mistake so far,but again, the sample is rather small to get any idea out of it. I believe this data gathering is less flawed and more accurate than one done on older coins, since those coins will tend to change hands less often, and the clashes most likely haven't been picked out so much, because the coin is sold wrapped, and this error has been known for a short period. I'm still interested in knowing about your coins, if they have the clash or not, and if it's on one or both sides.

after checking my 3 coins. They don't have this issue. The error coins may be worth some extra value. Who knows. :)

That'd be 13/99 counting Bibo's 3 coins as well. 1 out of every 7-8 coins. @gbvbsite: does your coin have marks on obverse as well as reverse? @Bibo: Yes, I'd say it carries a premium, since theses coins are all the same except a few with the clash.

Another factor to consider are the distribution centres. mysterious_dr_x, how many did you find that were sold by Canada Post?
