Anyone interested in $200 worth of CFL trinkets - coin, a silver wafer, pins, toys and stamps? http://www.canadapost.ca/shop/cfl/1...ecution=e1s1I'm curious as to what this means: "a one-dollar circulation coin featuring the Grey Cup ( specially treated for long-term storage)" Edited by CC-Ottawa 08/29/2012 10:41 am

Interesting - I wonder how well those will sell? Not sure about the mass appeal of the CFL as compared to the Titanic collector set.
Maybe they coated the dollar coin with shellac?

At least it is not like the Montreal Canadiens coin and stamp set... you had to buy the set, just to get the painted logo loon dollar (and they only used crappy Winnipeg strikes for that!)....

I wonder if the 1 ounce silver stamp reproduction was struck by the RCM? In any case, I think I'll pass on this one.

8000 sets is a lot for a product that have will only interest in Canada. Internationally few people will be interested in it, unlike the Titanic set which has universal appeal. I think this item will be headed for the clearance bin by the end of the year.
But I may be interested in one of the autographed sets instead because they are limited to 300 each. Those are probably a better investment.

I think is lacquered, like the Montreal Canadiens 100th (three loonies: lacquered, gold plated, and enameled)

This set has been put 'on sale' for $150 by at least one large dealer - the shopping channel guy in Richmond Hill.
All of my local POs have the set at issue and I suspect even at $150, it won't sell very well.
It's a neat set for a hardcore CFL but how many of them are out there?

I would imagine that these would sell well in Winnipeg, Saskatoon or one of those big CFL fan base city?

I was considering it, I love how recently the CFl has been growing. You'll probably be able to get these on ebay for a bit cheaper in a few months.

It's been for sale for nearly 3 months and has a limited 8k mintage. Now discounted. Doesn't seem to popular anywhere (even CFL cities) but perhaps they will sell in Toronto at the game. Would be cool to have the replica Grey Cup to drink out of at the game I guess.
BTW, that same dealer has the coloured CFL quarters on sale too. Even lower than the already discounted price at CP.
