Now that Pan Pac would fit nicely in my "crappy set". The seller is asking way to much. I guess he's hoping to catch someone off guard.

I should have added on the Pan Pac the sellers description. Nice coin--Heavy Damage.

Picked up another coin for my collection today. Came in the mail. So, I actually kind of got this one on accident... didnt really want it badly, but I threw out a $12.01 bid and won. I feel like I'm explaining to my wife, hahaha. Anyway, its a pretty nice 1893 Columbian, except for the scratch across the obverse. A friend of mine said it would bother me forever and you know what? HE WAS RIGHT! Well, its not a bad coin and for $12.01, I will take it every time. Enjoy.

Make it a pocket piece along with 5 or 6 common modern cupro nickel clad coins and in a few months that scratch will be barely noticeable & the coin will be PO 1.

Nice coin Hondo at a great price ... worthy to post in the VG08 thread coming up on Friday. Quote: except for the scratch across the obverse. A friend of mine said it would bother me forever Such is the challenge of these tremendous coins ... each with their own battle scars. I would suggest you remind your friend that each of these lovely surviving examples of an era gone by are precious in their own way ... and that the obverse scratch is evidence of this particular coins passage through commerce over the years ... and now it has found a final home with you. Perhaps I should be honest and remind myself ... Thanks for sharing the coin. Best David

I would leave it just the way it is. It has a nice patina to it and you can't beat the price.

Putting it in my pocket would be cheating!
I actually do really enjoy the coin. The scratch is just a battle scar and its home now! One other thing which stood out to me is the complete lack of edge reeding. It's completely smooth and rounded.
Maybe one day, if I find a "worse" example, I can use this coin to pay it forward to a new young collector!

Putting it in your pocket would not be cheating. I don't think that people realize how long it would have to stay in your pocket day in and day out.

If you're going for a low ball set its not cheating exactly but it takes the fun out of it. Thats a great looking one. I could see that as someones pocket piece at some point and their motor carriage key scratched it.

This is probably the coolest set I have seen. I wish I had the money to do that
