1973-D "large America" Die Deterioration?

Is this large-lettered "America" due to over-polishing or something else I have yet to learn about. All opinions are appreciated. In-hand it is easily noticeable. I took a comparison pic with a normal sized "America" to help emphasize the difference. Seems like in the variety and error coin collecting world it is always something... coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 05/15/2013 04:49 am The reason the letters are reaching the rim is from Die Deterioration. The die wears all devices toward the rim. Just look at the 1955 "So Called" poor man's doubled die. You will find that kind of wear reaching toward the rim.
