Quote: The last reverse posted...is not the same coin as the first one posted. They are different photographs certainly, but before we conclude they are different coins, we ought to look very carefully, right? To that end, I'm happy to roll up my sleeves and do a little digital forensics. Here are the two photos side-by-side with equalized levels, pointing out matching spots of toning.

"STATES" looks different (on first coin slightly damages or perhaps a little grease).Look in bay 2,bottom of column 11 and bay 11.The steps on coin one look "washed out". Could all this be because of the type camera used? perhaps but I remain skeptical yet hopeful.

O.K., everyone settle down now Those pics. are of exactly the same coin. Period. Now let's just celebrate the OP's find and hope that he will follow up with future news etc.

RamairOlds, Congratulations on your find, it is amazing, historic, and almost unbelievable, yet we all want to believe and share in the celebration. May I make a suggestion: If you could manage to take a close up (as close as possible) photo with the coin angled up against a mirror and the focus of the photo basically capturing both the obverse and reverse simultaneously I am certain any doubt or skepticism will turn to full-throated support. Then let the celebration begin!

Wow, congrats on an unbelievably wonderful, lucky find! Just awesome! Wow.. I've looked at every and all 1992 cents that pass through my hands for one of these.. But nope.. Lol, but then again I'm sure we all do. And I agree, absolutely the same coin, no doubt about that. Again, congrats, that's awesome!! On a side note being from Mass and hearing that's where others have been found gives me a new glow of hope, lol. As does your find!

I'd have it graded. (something I never consider myself) It would be a coin worthy of grading to get a "Genuine" slab for it. Who knows what the gavel will on this coin.

I'm not sure who to send it to. If it didn't have the problems on the obverse, I would send it to PCGS. I don't have any knowledge of NGC's preservation service. I have read that both companies have stepped up their game on doctored coins.

I spoke with Bill Fivaz this morning and he confirmed my reservations about NCS. I plan to meet with him tomorrow and decide where to send it for certification and grading. I hope the coin will grade at AU55-AU58 but we shall see.
