@ Silveroid, Section 450 of Canada's criminal code makes it an offense to sell or own any coin stamped replica or copy, according to articles I read on Mike Marshall this applies worldwide. Google mike Marshall or counterfeit Canadian coins, there are some well written articles going back to 2h009. Apparently Mike has been recognized by receiving several awards for his work shutting down counterfeits from being sold on ebay. Way back he was responsible for having 6 Chinese counterfeiting companies booted off of ebay. He also educated ebay San Hose and the RCMP to the implications of these fakes! He gets many ebay auctions taken down. I wish Mike would share some pointers with CCF members. Collectors need to read these older articles! I know many people believe it's up to the RCM to take action. However, until they can be convinced to do something, all we have is a grass roots movement. I was angered by Rush 112 comment" it's nice to see so many people doing the RCM's job for free." This was after I had posted several auctions, needing reporting for selling Chinese counterfeits, on my old thread regarding fake Robins & Ducks. Mike would post there occasionally. We collectors need to pick up the slack, when we can; otherwise in time our collections will become truly worthless. Once the average person becomes too fearful to buy any coins with confidence, who will buy the coins when it's time to sell. I know many collectors never intend to sell, but one day it's guaranteed to happen, either you or your heirs will sell. Yes, it's not right we are doing the RCM's work for them, however, what can we expect for a government organization. Pressure must be brought to bare on the mint! Do we need to publicly shame them, I don't know? As collectors we should be bombarding the Minister in charge of the RCM. Make it his problem, politicians don't like to be publicly embarrassed. The mint has promoted their security measures on common change, how about something for Nclt coins. We can also make waves for the RCMP 's counterfeit division, by contacting the Justice Minister. When are elections due to happen? Like the saying goes the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Sitting back and saying, I can't have an effect, or no change will take place! Just think of the thousands of dollars spent yearly at the mint by collectors, it has an effect on the governments and our economy's bottom line. How is the mint a world leader, when it permits it's products to be counterfeit the world over?

You are right on that we need to get the RCM involved in this issue, onlt the RCM can ask the RCMP and CSBS to act when they prove infringements, this is how the system work. The RCM will only act when sales decline or enough customers complain and boycott sales or as you mentioned contact the Minister of Finance, if the RCM keep selling out most issue they don't care, all other companies strictly protect their copyrights and patents or your products will be faked to no ends. If Mr. Bennett wants to, he could contact Mr. Harper on Monday, and enforcement would occur immediately. Contact your mint reps or just email the RCM its the only way in my opinion to battle this issue. Look up the New Balance shoes they sued the Chinese fakes in China court to stop the counterfeit shoes.

I just spent 30 min on alibaba express, it's truly frightening what I saw. There were several factories selling the ducks/robins. One seller called the 25 cent color Queen coin, referred to the Queen as the Royal Concubine, I was just shocked. Talk about a cultural reference, I wouldn't want to work in that factory!! My all time favorite coin was there 2011 color Wolf bullion coin, of course the sml/ gml were offered. Here's the astonishing part, offered were Shannon Twoonies, lucky loonies, voyageur dollar 1963, and 2012 security Twoonies!! Wouldn't making and selling, our current circulating coins like regular counterfeiting? Since these coins are being made and sold couldn't the mint or the government do something to shut them down? This is truly appalling. They had the 20 4 20/ Maple canopy/ cardinal bird and many other popular coins. The Chinese are really getting bold, putting our coins on their website. It's very disturbing how in your face counterfeiting has become.

there are some crazy items on aliexpress. Many goods are legit and proper quality, many are not (I wouldn't risk buying coins or bring in any of the "copies" or "replicas"). Then there are things like this; current price for 5 new polymer $20 bills with their store discount brings the total to $94.44us including shipping to Canada :scratchhead http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Cana...7127368.html

I just had a look at aliexpress, WOW! Canadian currency, just released 2 weeks ago. They have all denominations, plus older notes as well. When I looked up Canadian coins 29 pages came up, with 36 items each all Canada products. They have a feedback system, where people rate/leave comments - beside each comment is your country's flag. A lot of Canadian's are ordering from the site. I counted at least 58 1948 silver dollars being brought into the country. They show how many of each item you order.
I wonder what the Bank of Canada, would say or do when shown the new polymers? The Minister of Finance needs to be shown these new high tech banknotes. It's just unfathomable to me, countries turn a blind eye to it!! The Chinese are taking over the world and not through old fashion warfare. They've come up with a better tool, economic warfare! While the US/CA/ UK and other developed nations, are off fighting physical wars, the Chinese are perfecting their weapon of mass destruction. What type of world is my son inheriting? The thing is, it's happening right under our very noses!!

For what it's worth, it does appear that there are SOME legitimate RCM/Bank of Canada issue coins and notes on aliexpress, such as that $20 polymer note and $20 for $20 Whale/Iceburg coin (priced at $33.95 per coin).

I reported the auctions I listed yesterday, and today an email from ebay they checked the persons auctions and removed all but one. I used the forum link and it worked real fast. I'm impressed an email, I never got an email from ebay for all the other auctions I reported using the link in the ad. Also in the world forum there's a post by a ebay community watch member, needing input into the various definitions of counterfeit and how it impacts collectors. Example he uses the difference between counterfeits of the 19th century vs today's. some people collect the ancient and old counterfeits. Should they be in the ban with the modern ones? Check the post out, it's actually a poll. It's under world Commemerative forum by swamper bob title should properly described counterfeits be allowed on ebay.

Even if the item is disclosed as a replica on the website, it should also be permanently marked on the product itself. There is too much temptation to resell these as the real McCoy. It should not be allowed. I'm sure if the whole world exported fake Renmibi Yuan to Chinese seaports they wouldn't like it one bit. I'm watching this British documentary on YouTube, and the Chinese counterfeiters justify their actions that the world's empires have gotten involved in China and completely tried to take over their economy (i.e. British Empire with the Opium Wars, plural). I can get their reasoning, but at the same time they are exploiting their population in the factories, using desperate unskilled people from poor backgrounds, and they "employ" children, as well. It's wrong all around.

Get this Boxing Day I reported 3 different sellers for selling fake Canada titanic coins. I just received ebay replies. They yanked ads from 1 seller. The other 2 were deemed ok because they were listed in the fantasy listings. How does this work? They can still be passed off as real by the next seller. They said they weren't really coins. How can you. Have 2 different results on the same product? Is this some kind of loophole ?
