Carl, That is a beautiful set. Thank you for sharing. My dad who was born in 1916 gave me a small box of Indian Head cents that he had pulled from circulation as a kid when I was in third grade and that (along with a Seated Liberty quarter for my first tooth) launched my coin collecting addiction. I will always have a soft spot for the little coppers. |

What a beautiful set. How long did it take you to put it together? Did you do a lot of upgrading over time or did you wait for the "right" coin for each year, buy it and stick with it?

Bad habit of mine is to get a newer, higher grade coin, if good enough, goes into set #1, The one from #1 goes into #2 and on and on and on. Eventually the last one goes into a 2x2 and into a box. You're ahead of me by 3 IHC's (1870,1889 & 1897). My set is all slabbed and MS-63 or better. And, yes, I need an 1856 also. |

Amazing It takes a lot of commitment (and $$$, of course) to build a set such as this. How long have you been collecting these IHCs? Congratulations |

Just missed out getting that 1856 but just didn't have the money then.   In reality for about 50 years. This is set #1 of 6. |

funny how the 1858 Indian cents are much cheaper than the 1856 flying eagle. |

"funny how the 1858 Indian cents are much cheaper than the 1856 flying eagle." EXACTLY. They both have ~ the same mintages (1200) yet, the 1858 Indian gets no respect. Why does the RedBook see fit to add the 1856 flying eagle, but, not the 1858 indian? |
