So, I purchased 4 gold coins with them last night, and asked for a reinvoice with First Class Intl instead of Registered.

He said that he can't do that unless I pay via gift because paypal will hold him responsible if the package is lost in transit.

I don't want to pay $30 shipping for $90 coins since that pretty much ruins the premise of "a good deal".

If he's reputable, I don't mind paying via gift, I've done it with plenty of mid-sized firms before and never had an issue, always do it with the sellers who I'm a regular at to save them fees.

Thoughts?

They seem "legit"; a little research indicates they're a valid business, they have a Vcoins storefront and are manning a table at the Central States Numismatic Society show in Schaumburg this weekend. That said, I'm really put off by the "Paypal gift" thing. It's a blatant attempt to circumvent Paypal fees and income tax liability, and abdicating responsibility for loss in transit isn't exactly becoming of a business.
