Guess whoever looked at them before I did has a lot of red coppers already.

I think it's just amazing how some of these coins can stay red for over half a century, while the rest gets toned or verdigris.

I would love to find a roll of Canadians marked no good down here. People assume that rolls won't get reused and right things on them all the time, so when they don't want it they mark it and send it on it's merry way. It is better to mark the rolls thant he coins though vbecause the last box of halves I got had a lot with weird scratches on them that looks purposefully done.

Glad you rescued these from their demise!

People mark the coins? Ouch!

I personally draw on my rolls the different designs of commemoratives that have appeared in Canadian coins. So it's obvious to me that I've searched them, but whovever gets the rolls next can enjoy what I drew on them.
I'll take a photo of my next one to show you guys.

I'm glad I was able to get them and save them for being sold for scrap by the mint!
just wonder how many Georges have been melted down because of people who don't realise their numismatic value.

Found another roll marked with "no good". Most are brown copper but there's a lot of American ones in there. I guess whoever looked at these don't collect American.

I've had a quick look at what's in the rolls but I haven't had a good look at them yet.
I am finding a lot of red and red-brown 1970s pennies in this box. Most of the pennies are just distributed from 60s-80s. Not much before 50s and 90s onward seen. Non-copper are mostly concentrated in a couple of rolls.
Copper dump? I guess that's why my arms hurt so much carrying this box.

Found my first S cent, by the way. It's a 1973S.
Also found a friend for my red '63 hanging 3. It's a red '62 hanging 2

I had problems opening a roll so I saved it for last. Guess what, two wheat cents (I thought there were none in the box) and a red '63!

Only Liz II in this box. Just goes to show how long she has reigned

Rescued the other box of pennies today. Got a bit smarter and decided to use a backpack

Good job. The boxes do get heavy don't they. I have heard tellers grunt when they heave over a couple boxes of nickels and say "these things weigh a ton".

When I say they actually weigh 20 pounds each, they comment how they got their workout for the day,

Work out by moving boxes around At least there's no membership fee required to lift some weights!

They do get heavy, especially after a 20 minute walk back to where I'm staying. At first, no problem. When I arrive, my arms are so tired they're shaking!
I still don't know why my brain keeps putting most of that box's weight on my left arm. I used to draw bows right handed so obviously my arms would hurt less if I carried it the other way round.

My calculations for the max / min weights of boxes are:
Penny: (Cu) 8.1 kg / (Zn) 5.625 kg
Nickel: (CuNi) 9.08 kg / (Fe) 7.9 kg
Quarter: (Ag) 11.66 kg / (Fe) 8.8 kg

I would not enjoy too much carrying a box of silver quarters for a long time. Until I open it, that is. Then it's silver party!

I've found one silver ('68) in a roll so far, so no party yet! At least now my '63 has a friend!
