what is the mint error called when the field of the coin is very deep?

Not an error.It's a full strike,a little more pressure then usual.

It is educational for the rest of us who are still learning coin-language.

I was having fun sifting through the ten cent bin at a local coin shop yesterday, and I saw some Canadian pennies that were struck like this and I wondered what the proper words were for the difference. "Full strike" - now I know.

I may have used the wrong word "full" when I should have used "strong". A full strike may indicate a MS70 grade I am not sure but your coin does look like it had more then the usual pressure-tonnage when minted. I hope coop chimes in soon because he can explain much better then I.
