The rotated reverse will not add a premium of any kind. Can't tell double die or not but amazing condition. Congrats. I hope the area turns up lots more fortune for you.

If you've got Copperheads out there late Fall, Winter or early Spring would be a lot better time to hunt. When everything gets frosted down it would be a lot easier too.

If your worried about the snakes then hold off detecting until late Fall or Winter. The overgrowth will be dormant, the bugs will be dug in for Winter and the snakes will be hibernating and less active. (Not that you couldn't still stumble across one that missed the "it's time to hibernate" memo!).
Nothing like getting snake bit on a hot day, in the middle of nowhere when your already exhausted. Not a healthy day at all.
Nice find!

Sorry to say this is not Genuine. Here's what I see. Cracks on the die into the rim. Area softness where it should not be. Absence of contact, circulation marks. Incorrect date position. Mismatched "1" digits in the date. Lettering soft and too wide. •••••• that's what I see here.

Yeah ambro51, I am a bit skeptical myself. I will send it in though just to be sure.

Nice find! I would freak out if I dug a gold coin. The fact that you dug it up has to add some pesonal value to it too!! GL & HH

I just don't understand why such a good counterfeit would be buried in an untouched 1800s homestead site. But hey...

Looks fine to me and who cares whether it's counterfeit or not. You have nothing other than time invested in it. Free gold is not a bad thing.

Counterfeits usually don't have the right weight. What is the weight of this coin? You might be able to save yourself some TPG's fees with 10 seconds and a scale.

Yeah I know. I will be taking it to work tomorrow, we have some really nice scales that will weigh grams to 3 decimal points.
