It's the easiest place to find and get to, compared to the Torex. Very centralized. I just wish a Sunday could be added once in a while so that nobody can complain about not going, and about the "traffic". There's no subway traffic, just think of that; 150 years later the train is still an amazing invention.

No doubt... I'm having a little get together at my place at the end of this month and I'm buying two kegs for $100... but perhaps location and volume discount when it comes to the hops needs to be factored in...

I can't wait until I could go to a coin show in T.O or a big metropoliton area.. the quality of material and mix it up with you guys... love to be a fly on the wall when a show and tell session breaks out!

It would then be worth $8 a beer I suppose.

The show was great.

...the location was great..

...the company was great..

...and bonus..we also got to see a group of "very special" George V 10 cent pieces..

Get to the GO train..then take the subway..it's doesn't get any better than that..

Quiet atmosphere in the library and perfect for one on one discussions...."I'll be back..!!.."

Although I see your points regarding transit accessibility, the last thing I would ever do is take public transit with a significant amount of coins/paper money on my person. It's just simply not safe to do so. So for people like me who are serious buyers, driving is our only safe option. But getting in and out of DT is impossible these days, and Torex will be much much worse in terms of accessibility.

skip my question to you is this: when on a bus do you know who actually has a LOT of money on their person and who doesn't?

If you're argument is that they spotted you coming out from a coin show.. I don't think it would matter what mode of transportation you chose that day.. unfortunately your ticket was punched and would be thief is just waiting for the right moment..

Who's dimes were those, that link on SPP-Ottawa's post? There had to of been some security there or something at least. Were they just being showed off or were they actually for sale? Those things looked absolutely beautiful!

I mean SPP-Ottawa, you said that a box of those were in your hand in a pub and yet they are from the Perth collection...And in a pub. I'm confused!

Looks like I missed a lot of the fun. Hopefully the Fall Expo will also be as fun.

I take public transport and walk almost everywhere I go in Canada. I use a small reusable shopping bag and I top it with a novel when I bring stuff to coin shows - I think I look rather unremarkable that way.

Normic67, the owner of the Perth Collection brought them out for show-and-tell-and-beers... we literally passed the box around the table, whilst sipping beers at the nearby pub...

No offence, SlurExe97, but you being a young numismatist, and female - you stick out on the bourse floor. That does not mean you'll be a target for the activities aforementioned, but you certainly don't fit the profile of the usual introvert (and sometimes eclectic) coin collector.

The hobby could use more keen collectors such as yourself....

Robberies just aren't that common on the subway. Stay out of the east side and you're generally safe. This isn't South Bronx. "Unsafe" would be advertising you have those items on you.

I usually do the exact same thing or something close to it when doing coin related things. I usually use an enviro bag but for the show I had a back pack.
