Is that Cotton Hill on the dollar coin?
I do not know. I need to see the knees, or lack thereof.

Kidding aside, I am a bit disappointed. Maybe it will grow on me. I will let you know once I get one in had.

As for the Nixon, I have to agree, it is one of the best looking Presidential dollars. A lot can be said for using the full profile.

I think Reagan looks like he was just stung in the face by a swarm of bees.

I was thinking "What's that SMELL?"

I have the slightest feeling that Carter won't be making it all that much longer, considering he has cancer and already is 91.

Last I heard Carter is in remission.

He's a tough bird. I expect him to be around for a while longer and good for us -- he's a better ambassador than he was a President.

At least Ford looks good on his coin anyway. Reagan looks like he is sucking a lemon (or spitting a watermelon seed). They could have done a better job.

Even if Carter were to die today (no I'm not saying I would like for it to happen) he still wouldn't get a dollar coin. The series would end before the two year requirement was satisfied.

The Reagan coin portrait is different. Can't say I like it or not.

For 2016, they are doing three Presidential $1 Coins:
Richard M. Nixon
Gerald R. Ford
Ronald Reagan

Thanks for posting the image of the three coins, Fuzzy!

One thing I'll say about this year's three-coin presidential proof set is that it can serve as an excellent teaching tool for new numismatists by demonstrating what is meant by the design terminology of "Profile view," "Full face view," and "Three-quarter view" portraits!

no problem captainrich, finding the image on the US Mint's website was a little difficult so I figured it would help discussion if it was here.

Correct.

I would hope that Congress would pass quick legislation to allow a Carter dollar if something where to happen to him. However, congress is dysfunctional; I hope Carter lives a long time so they will not have to worry about (gasp) doing the right thing.

What is the plan for the dollar coins going forward?

Are they going to make more sac dollars or start a new program?

I assume they will keep minting the Native American (Sacagawea) Dollars each year. They will remain NIFC until we finally dump the one dollar note.
