I bought this as an error coin ( Cud) and not PMD. However, I am not sure. Thoughts?     |

Looks like wear. Don't know much about Cuds on the IHC series, so wait for someone with more experience to chime in before reaching a final verdict. -CRHer |

the metal is indeed slightly raised: but I don't like all the rim damage and the scratch right next to the potential Cud near the first A in AMERICA. Edited by robbudo

i have also noticed there is a slight bend in the coin in the same direction as the length of the potential die break. I honestly can't figure this one out.

If you google the year do any similar coins come up? I'm surprised there aren't more responses here. If it was a bad die break, especially that long ago when the machinery wasn't as advanced it wouldn't shock me if this coin got out. But based on how badly its worn, and not seeing the coin in hand. I almost have to side with damage but would obviously have the same concerns you have and would want someone more knowledgeable to chime in.

I've checked the two references I have: "the Cud Book" and the later supplement that went out. no matches. |

On a bent coin, the highest areas wear down soonest, which would explain your coin. Still, I think the area looks a bit raised relative to its surroundings, but maybe it's just a trick of the lighting. |

If it's bent, the high point is going to wear at a much greater rate than the rest of the coin.
