This 1874 Trade dollar was given to my Mother in 1929 attached to a ribbon. It was a "teething dollar." There was a note attached to it in my Grandmother's handwriting stating who gave it and it's purpose. What is the value of such a coin?

If genuine, not much numismatic value, unfortunately.
I would guess that a value of around $35 would be appropriate.
Perhaps that is what someone may pay to buy retail.

On that value basis a dealer would offer much less, so that he could make a profit.

My guess is $50-$60....$35 is pretty low.

I'm more in the $35 range - just a cull.

Welcome to the CCF, mrctn ....

I'd say your Trade $1 appears genuine and would likely fetch $35 or a bit more. For comparison, here's a pic of stamped Trade $1, mildly damaged, that I snagged on ebay some months ago for about $90.
