Here in Canada the market is a little thinner and I can sometimes get them quite cheaply, compared to the US. Of course, the supply at the good price is rather limited.

What would the minimum dealer buying price be for these, at current silver prices, assuming a grade of at least VF?

Low $20's for a Peace dollar, Mid $20's for a Morgan (w/ exception of 1921 date - they trade more like Peace dollars)

20-25 for common date Circ morgans and peaces, a bit more for better dates and conditions, a bit less for culls/damaged.

$15-20 around here. Dealers don't pay much more than spot for VF commons, though they get a premium over other 90% coins selling. Some dealers charge premiums for halves too, and halves are usually what they run out of before dimes and quarters.

Unless they are BU I wouldn't expect offers more than $20 each for common dates.

I was in a coin shop a few months ago and the dealer quoted a seller $13 each which seems a bit low but not unfair. They seem to sell them for $23 and up.

About 6 months ago I posted on this forum about a less reputable coin shop/jewelry buying outfit paying $8 each for a bunch of silver dollars from an elderly woman.

I sold about 40-50 circ Morgans & Peaces at the last two shows I've been to here in TX, culls to common dates to XF-AU coins, with some CC culls. Lowest I got was $15.00 for some ugly culls (graffiti, bent, scraped, polished) and tops was $50.00 for a XF details 78CC scratched. Most of them were in the $15 to $25 range.

You know you can still buy about 40 Morgans in MS64 for less than $100. I imagine the dealers pay half that or less. They are messing with us but they have had tough times over the last few years. This is why I think speculating on big profits on even popular coins like Morgans is a dream unless you can wait 30-50 years.

I think he is saying there are 40 or so different mint/date slabbed/graded Morgans in MS64 that list for under $100.

That is what I was saying what you said. I have about 60 Morgans and I got many of the more common dates a year ago in MS64 condition for considerably less than $100 a coin. At the time that was my cut off price. Now all the coins I want are over $100 in any sort of MS condition or even AU.

Kind of in the same boat so I decided to do two graded/slabbed collections.

One is the best coin I can get MS 62 or above for under $100 not being as specific about dates and mints

The second is one each of the highest graded/slabbed coin I can get for each date mint mark (plus major variations like 7/8 tail feathers) for under $500. This will include quite a few MS 64's to 66's as well as 61's to 63's and below
