This is killing me lol. I got a USB microscope and have tried everything to hook it up to my tablet and computer and have had no luck. Does anyone know how this works by any chance? The computer says it's ready to use - but how lol?

Mine has a like a roller switch for adjusting the amount of light. It's on the usb cable that plugs into the computer. If the light is too dim or off you won't see anything.
Took me awhile to figure mine out. Had to download the software from a website cause I couldn't do it off there CD for some reason. Getting mine to work was trial and error.

It likely installed new software and you need to use that.
Assuming Windows10, hit start button.
Go up to 'All Apps' and look in there. It is probably in there and marked as new software.
Open up that software and you should be good from there.
If not, ask.

Someone here always knows.
Someday you will be part of that someone.
You never know what you know that will be valuable to someone else.
Recently, I tracked down the coin themed wall art plastic parts made in 1970 and 1971 for a collector of them. You need a serious plastic design guy and it helps to have a legal background too. Besides myself, I can think of one other guy in the industry who could have done that in under 5 minutes, and he doesn't collect coins.
Turns out the guy in search of information is a photo genius and pays it forward here on CCF by helping out others with photo questions, kind of like how I do with plastic questions.
Whenever I get ready to set up better for coin pics, I will go to that guy.
Stick around and help out, you will be surprised at how much help there is and how much help anyone can be.
Everyone is an expert at something.

Your title question asks how to "hook up" the microscope, but your post seems to indicate you need to know how to "use it".

Regarding what Buckeye said about finding the software. I seem to remember having to find out where the program was downloaded too. (Been a while since I hooked mine up). When you find it, send a shortcut to your desktop or pin it to the taskbar so you won't have to search for it again. It should put an icon on your desktop or task bar for easy accessibility.

I saw photos of a pennies mint mark taken with a USB microscope and now I'm hooked. But I know nothing about them. Will they take photos of whole coins and stamps or just tiny details? On Amazon they have about 30 kinds and Idon't know what to look for. I have an IMac, IPad, and iPhone. Is there a place to go to learn about this? Sure seems better than buying an expensive camera, bellows, macro lens, etc. Thanks!!

you can try buying direct form China as well(prices are cheaper, directions are sometimes confusing but most work as long as directly plugged into a USB port. Delivery may take a while and you may have to download an rar file & caution should be used in what sites you download from, but they are all made there. They work reasonably well but know what magnification you really need/want. If it means anything for me 200x was far more than I needed and easier to handle, and the one with an adjustable zoom on the barrel was easier to use I did have trouble first getting it to run but after first set up and finding a note from someone that you had to plug directly into a machine instead of a hub its been relatively easy. Downsizing the images to load on this site has been a bigger challenge, so you can gauge my tech abilities from that. Good luck

Thank you everyone for your input. I've tried finding a download for it and I can't seem to find it. I don't know, I'm going to try again tonight. but the CD that came with it didn't work, so I then tried finding where the software might be to just download it. I'm going to try again. I'm anxious to see how it works. I'm so grateful for everyone's help. Wish me luck hopefully I'll get this up and running...

The ones in Amazon are about $30 if I just knew more about what they would do. I'm hoping someone with experience will chime in and open the door for me. Many thanks!

I was a little shocked though when I learned I wasn't having any luck setting it up. LoL I'm not that good when it comes to computers and setting up these sorts of things. I hope I can do this

Sadieangel2 - I didn't give you any help - I am searching for info/answers.
Will your microscope take full size of coins in holders and stamps? Also want to know if they work on Apple stuff.
Which one did you get? There are many on Amazom in the same price range.
Anyone else with info about them please jump in - thanks - Rick

Rar file or any software should be on the CD or better on their website. We can find it. What is the brand of usb microscope? Do you have a link to the Amazon listing or one like it? From your posts it sounds like you plugged it in and your computer said the device is ready to use. The software may be installed already (go to start bar, all apps, and look in there). May even be a shortcut type icon for it already even. Assuming Windows, check the icons by the time and date in the lower right corner on your computer. One of them may be the USB microscope and the software. That would be too simple, but I like simple. Not likely but worth a shot.
