Hello,

I have been assembling a certified date set of Buffalo nickels in the 63-65 range. I'm looking at this one. Looks nice for a 63 but may be a bit high at its current $105 bid with a day to go.

What do you think?

Thanks

Might be a 62, to be entirely honest. I'm not a big fan of that scratch at the date - and what's under "LIBERTY"?

The coin looks likes a 63 and the OGH is commanding a small premium. If you wait, you can find a coin as good or better for $20 less.

I thought that scratch was on the holder, but now that I look closer, not so sure.

I was thinking it's a -64 with a weakish strike, particularly on the obverse.
Rest in Peace

Price is much to high for a 63 . I'm not sure if the obverse scratch is on the coin or holder . IMHO Stay away .

The price is about retail and I think you can do better. I have noticed that even the most rare of the Buffalo nickels were selling at discounts in VF to EF grades. I think when you get to MS63 then the seller can command higher prices. One of the guys here bought some Buffalo's at really deep discounts. I was buying 1921-S in Fine for VG price and same went for other scare ones being able to buy VF at F price and EF at VF prices. The ones I bought were mostly raw. I got to check prices. I might try to look at them again and buy coins up to where they really jump in value. You notice most coins have a take-off grade where price really jumps. I try to buy just below that level.
