Hi Pete hope you and the wife had a nice road trip and that you are feeling Okay.

This one looks like it took a hit (imho). Usually, when I see a rim Cud it looks like there are 2 rims with a valley in between and that is where the Cud is sitting. Hope it is though, it would be a new listing.

I did not consider the possibility of a hit since there was no ding on the outer surface of the rim.

(Thanks for you good wishes - cut the road trip short - was exhausted!)

My knowledge is still very minimal compared to most of you, but I do like to try at helping out and in the end I am always learning more and more.

(Sorry to hear that, but I least you both had a little time away and some fun.)

I am leaning in the direction of a folded over Rim Fin on this one because the side of this feature towards the center of the coin appears to have some slight separation from the rim - as if it had been laid down and pressed - rather than growing out of the rim as I think a rim break should appear.

Am I on the right track in my thinking?

Hard to tell from images, and no a rim Cud does not have to cover the entire rim. If you visualize how a rim Cud is formed you'll understand why.

Thanks CC. So if I understand correctly, this can also be called a "rolling fold".
