Any input on the inadequate upset would be greatly appreciated

Looks like a "misaligned Die" (MAD)
Let me know if you have another terminology for this!!

One side of the coin is MAD - the other is an equal rim stike

The 1985 dimes were known for poor strikes that year.

Update time. Found a lot of neat die chips and cracks. About three quarters through. These are the best out of the coins so far, so many chips and cracks to show. But these are the best.

This 1970-D, Spiked head and Possible rim Cud.And a marker on the E of EPU.

Hey Jim, yeah I know. Would this be a D/D south? What do you think about the spiker and do you think its a rim Cud or a folded over Rim Fin?

Yes I think it would be D/D south, the spiker has some wear, but is definitely a Spike Head, the rim has an issue, but doesn't involve a Cud, maybe a Fin. These are my opinions only, the only one I'm really sure about is the spiker.

It looks like a well circulated example of 1960D-1MM-036 on coppercoins: http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dies...ie_state=lds

There are a few that are very close to this one, so you need to try and find some die markers to know for sure. There is a decent size crack on Lincoln's head that should be easy to spot.
