Thank you for the help and I can't believe I forgot the pics, roomie mistake haha. On the obverse the dime looks like it is cracking in the center area where jefferson is and the date looks like the 1979 has the top of the numbers are cut off a little at the edge of the coin. The detail. Just seems very poor. The reverse of the coin is considerably worse with little to no detail on the buildimg, the letter I g on the edge of the coin is very rough looking and the five cents is barely visible from some angles. Would really like to know what your thoughts are on this coin, so please I'm am happy to listen. Thanks
@Atlas578, first welcome to CCF. Second, don't stress about forgetting to add the pics to your post at first--we have all done this before I think. As to the particulars of your 1979 nickel, I can see quite a bit of wear and tear from normal circulation. I agree that the rim has started to wear down into the top of the date a little bit, but that is pretty normal for this heavy amount of wear. Similarly, the lack of detail on the rev design elements and inscriptions could have been from a grease-filled die originally, but in this condition, an equally valid theory would just be excessive wear due to circulation. Overall, this poor guy has seen a lot of use and can be spent safely. I hope that you find some other coins to post here!

Thank you Spencer for taking the time to take a Look at my coin for, I have found a few jefferson njckerps and a lot of Lincoln pennies. Particularly 72 and 82. My parents have a Texas Mickey of pennies on the bar for the last 50 years so I think I found quite a few of the double dies,72 82 55. Would you mind taking a look and advising me on them or point me in the right direction.
For each coin please make a separate thread. It makes it easier for you when you search and others are not confused about the subject. (what coin are we talking about)
Your nickel looks damaged. It didn't look like that after it was struck. PSD (Post-Strike-damaged)
