Just noted something weird... the legit half in my first post also does not have the part in the hair, but the rest of the problems are the same?! In fact I think the details in the first legit half, as pointed out, are even more different than the OP's coin.

According to the web there are known variations in letter size for this date, but I know nothing about them. I could not find good pics of ea. variety either.

I'll have to do some research on die varieties I suppose. Thanks for the help everyone.

If you are doing a die variety comparison, always look for facial features first.
We are all programed from birth to identify facial features, and they develop further in our early years.
As adults, this is what gives us the easy ability to identify faces in a crowd.

I would suggest taking pictures outside of the 2x2. I believe everything that looks off is because of your pictures only. If you could also post a little clearer images of the obverse and reverse I could identify the variety. I still believe that it is legit and is the variety I stated previously.

Please do post pics - I look forward to learning more about this coin. Lighting and plastic in front of the coin can really make things appear odd.

Sorry guys, it's not my coin. The picture are from an online seller. I'll ask him if he'd like to post some pictures himself.

Hi the coin in question is mine. It was given to me several years back by my grandfather. I'm not sure when he acquired it but I know he wouldn't have cleaned it. I've always had a feeling it's been cleaned but I'm not much of a collector so a poor judge of coin grading. I've thought about getting it graded but always get varying opinions on if it's been cleaned or not so unsure if it'd be worth it. Hopefully these pictures are a little better and attached correctly.

I see no reason to doubt the authenticity of this coin.

This is not a counterfeit coin, It is a WB-104, WB-8 variety due to the date placement. There also looks like a die crack on the obverse starting around the left rock support to the base of the 1, That is another characteristic of this variety.

Very Nice! Look at it under magnification.
A cleaned coin usually has scratches that you can see close up.
I hope this helps!

Nice looking coin. May have been an older cleaning that has started to re-tone.
