Am I seeing 3 different styles of mintmarks here or just varying stages of die wear ?
Small chuncky style. This one appears to have taken a good hit, but still looks heavier than the other two.

Die wear coupled with depth of punch. Remember these were hand punched. If one was punched lighter than another it can appear to be a different size or shape.

The three photos look like the "monday, friday, and wednesday punches" First one very strong, Mionday, second friday , pretty weak, and second one, wednesday. I believe there are three different dies involved in the three photos, as well.
