I think I know what it is worth, but my opinion only applies to another who has a similar collecting interest.

Quote: So maybe the right question would be, "What is your coin collection worth to you?" To be a smarty pants, my answer would be, "Yes." Best answer yet!

More than a dollar and less than a million dollars.

what does "trend" value mean? I know how much I paid and that's about it.
Some say the monetary value of something is the amount a buyer will pay for it. Theoretically, it's possible to spend $10,000 on stuff no one else wants to buy. In that case, would the value of such a collection be zero?

Chasinva, Coin World magazine used to have a section called "Trends" that listed retail values of coins. This has evolved into the Coin Values magazine that Coin World now puts out monthly. Many of us old-timers still refer to this as "Trends." Back in the day, it was the best known and most commonly accepted retail price guide (or maybe second to RedBook).

Just in my 7070 album I have over $10,000.00 and if I add the other coins and then add the coins my grandfather had given me (including the 1907 High Relief Wire Edge St Gaudens in MS-64 among others) I would be in a category pretty close to the bottom

I think I will follow the wisdom of Solomon on this one.... Most of the dollar value of my collection is in my complete SLQ set, my Dansco 7070, my gold type set and my Lincoln cents 1909 to 1958. All of the aforementioned sets are EF to UNC; the balance of my collections are Fine to Extra Fine depending on the age. I really don't think about the dollar value that often. I've got over 50 years of my spare time invested in my collections....what is that worth? afernbaugh

The trends on my collection would probaby be around $10,000+. Right now my focus is a U.S. type collection based off of Dansco 7070 +gold page with a few gold and silver types added to the set. I started the set in June and so far have spent close to $4,500 on it lol. I also have some morgans, Buffalo nickels, misc. silver, some gold ect. Last year I began to collect seriously.

Mine used to be worth more but I started paring back. I couldn't keep up with it all. I don't know what mine is worth because like some others have said I mostly do it for the fun of it. Nobody in my family is really interested in coin collecting but me so I don't know what will happen to them after I'm gone. I guess I need to figure that one out. In fun and for myself they are worth a million but in value I don't have a clue.

WOW, interesting results from this poll. I never realized that most collections fit into the $1K-20K range. I would have assumed it to be much higher than this, or perhaps, have I just asked the wrong lot of people? Glenn

I figure it has to be worth at least $10,000 just in saved medical bills I would of had to pay to a shrink since I retired!! The actual worth is probably around $3000.00 , OH MY GOSH I just saved $7,000!! Going to buy more coins, talk to you later!
