What's Up With This Coin?

If the buyer would read the description they should know it's not real.




He says it was sent to ANACS and returned and possibly altered. The services will not flatly state that a coin is fake, they say "possibly" altered, or "questionable" authenticity. But if they say that you know it is no good. Yes the wishy washy language of the seller will give him an out when the buyer finds out that he spent way too much for a fake, but if he READ the part of the description I quoted he should have known it was no good. But the auction was full of red flags, if he didn't read it and chose to just engage in wishful thinking he has no one to blame but himself.

i think the guy was straight up, the buyers just got desperate and didn't do research. if he really wanted to sell it as the real deal he could have just posted some blurry pics and he would have gotten a thousand bucks. his auction started at only 99 cents.

the buyer probably will sell it as the real deal and double or triple his money that's the really sad part.

How in the world would would you put a mintmark on a coin?

Interesting that you are asking this question and not the one that I think of. Where do you get the S mintmark to add to the P mint coin? Attaching it to the new coin would be easy, finding something that wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb would be difficult.

His starting price is 0.99 cents. So many collectors are willing to buy fake coins for fillers at a price depending on their budget. In this case if this is authentic coin with altered MM then you give a bit higher buying budget.
Maybe my budget is $20 so I would definetly bid for it, but then another guy comes with a budget higher than me, and the bid goes on and on, until the guy who has a bigger budget wins.
