I think a recycled coin collection that a CRH luckily acquires at a bank was cashed in by a thief who stole it, or by someone who acquired the collection from a relative. For example, my mother-in-law once used several silver dollars her husband had acquired while serving in the Navy to pay the paperboy.

Recently I learned that a local bank has a branch located in a gated community consisting of hundreds of apartments owned by senior citizens. I became excited when I called that office and a teller told me he had $150 in customer-wrapped half dollars. I will acknowledge I anticipated they might contain silver coins that someone cashed at that bank after their spouse or companion departed this earth.

When I purchased them today, initially I was pleased that half of the rolls were in old-fashioned wrappers. A bonanza, I anticipated! In fact, I didn't find a single silver coin. They probably were carefully examined and wrapped by an elderly CRH who lives in that community.

But my trip was not entirely in vain. I also acquired $3 worth of half dollars from a teller working at a nearby bank -- and I found one 40% silver Kennedy half dollar. Better than nothing.

Wondering if customer wrapped dime and quarter rolls may have been had.
