1940 India 1 Rupee - Pretty Spectacular Die Crack

The line starts between the teeth along the edge on one side and ends right on the edge on the other. Report this Post to the Staff

brokencompass Valued Member United States 451 Posts	Posted 11/04/2010 5:25 pm A lot of coins from British India were restruck all the way to the 70's when the practice was discontinued. It is possible that this coin is a restrike and was struck using old dies. Report this Post to the Staff

nealeffendi Pillar of the Community Australia 852 Posts	Posted 06/18/2011 06:02 am They didn't just restrike old British India coins at later dates they also restruck Australian pennies and halfpennies in the 1960s (from dies used in 1942-43).
