Well your never gonna guess what happened. I was enjoying a new boat. Cruising at aboout 60, so I took off my jeans since my trunks were underneeth and I wanted to get some sun. And of coarse the pants flew to the back of the boat. I'm driving thinking, I should probably syop and gab them. I drove about another two miles and looked back. of coarse they had flown out.....

I doubled back to try and save them but they were gone, so I searched everything for what I lost and I found my wallet ID, everything. Then I rememberered I had the 1849 in my back pocket....

Long story short, I'm out at least a couple thousand and that just made the 1849 value jump, because this will never be found again....

No need to bash, I'm killing myself thinking about it....

I don't want to sound harsh but, what was it doing in your back pocket?

So sorry to here man. Is this at a lake? Your story implies you were on a body of water. If so, I would consider retracing your course, then bust out some scuba gear and an underwater metal detector. It's also possible that your pants were floating instead of sinking. It's also possible for them to wash up the shore, so I'd search the perimeter of the lake.

I understand how you feel to some extent. I had $600 cash disappear on me about a year ago in my own home. My wife still thinks I misplaced it, but I can't for the life of me figure out where as I turned this house upside down over several days...I think I either accidentally threw it away or it was stolen. If I lost something in the neighborhood of 5 figures, I would dedicate days to weeks to find it. Good luck!

Yeah, if this isn't some kind of joke, I would go to absurd lengths to find it. Scuba gear, you name it. I just hope this is a 30 ft deep lake, not something like Lake Superior where you'd need a Jimmy Suit to go down there...

If its not proof, its likely AU overdipped/cleaned, which means only about $1000.

What I am very confused by is if the coin had not been sent in yet, and it is a possible proof, being in your back pocket of your jeans will cause more damage to the surfaces, like more hairlines right. So, why was it there

I'm not calling anyone a liar, but I agree with Canadian-Banknotes, something doesn't seem right. it seems too unbelievable. if I had a coin like that i'd take care of it more. instead of just leaving it in my pocket and driving a boat and letting it fall out. I don't know about this one.

Very true. I was assuming he had it in a plastic case? It does all seem kind of weird.
