Other elements on the coin (rim, shoulder ribbon detail, leaves on the reverse) also point to a nice VF coin. You can take a sharp hawthorn to clean the crud out of the obverse legend a bit. Shame about that ding in the T of CENT. mdpmedia Pillar of the Community United States 3546 Posts	Posted 08/01/2011 08:27 am Actually I had planned on using a porcupine quill instead to clean out the crud from the letters. They seem to be more rigid and last longer than thorns. SPP, even though this thread was not aimed at cleaning out the crud in these letters I was recently fortunate to find an individual on ebay who very economically sold me some of these quills.: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWNX:IT These are not the real long and thick ones as the picture shows but they do the job for the most part for my needs. fyi, mdpmedia Report this Post to the Staff
