I think that is called a railroad rim? Something like that anyway, I'll have to look it up

A partial collar strike causing a "railroad rim". Or it was sitting in acid for a while and the core metal was dissolving quicker than the outer layer.

Take your pick.....cause now that I look at it again, I'm not sure, sorry
