I opened a new bag of $1 coins today and found this. There is two distinct lines on the Queen's cheek.

Anyone know what might cause this?

It's a die that's about to shatter. No idea of how common this is on Australian coins. It would be considered a minor error with little or no extra value here in the US.

There are a number of 'repeatable errors found on the 2006 Mob od Roo $1.
I now have about four of these planchet errors:

http://www.coincommunity.org/galler...hp?pos=-3524

Then there is my absolute favourite the 'Rabbit':

The rabbit really gets it's name from the 2000 $1 for obvious reasons:

Then there is the cheek Cud. It must have been a sad day :)
http://www.coincommunity.org/galler...hp?pos=-3366

And another little ripper...the Dobbie Gillis of roos... the goatee

Apart from the planchet errors, there are hundreds of each of the above errors in circulation. You just need to kmow what to look for.
