I found this really small (10mm diameter) golden coin that seems more like a token. It says Maximiliano y Carlota on the obverse and IMPERIO MEXICANO 1866 1867 on the reverse. Any idea if this is actually from that era and if it is actually gold or just a worthless token. Thank you!

It's definitely not a genuine coin, and not from the era - it's probably mid 20th century or later, when "gold miniatures" became fashionable. And while it probably is real gold, it may not be very high fineness - perhaps 8k or so.

It may also be a gold-plated token, commonly used in weddings in Mexico.
A specific gravity test could tell if it's solid.
