cwb Pillar of the Community United States 3463 Posts	Posted 06/14/2015 12:10 pm Proof is a type of coin, not a condition. The San Fransisco mint produces Proof coins, but they used to produce business strikes also. I think the last S mint business strike cents were in 1974. West Point also produces Proof coins, they have a W mint mark. The San Fransisco mint did produce some business strikes after 1974 but they didn't have a mint mark.
