Interesting find! There is definitely something going on with that eight! If not that,its at least a silver!

Now that you mention it, I'm beginning to lean toward a chip rather than a broken post, Canacoins. Looks like there is a little of the lower opening still present. Can't tell from the pics and the dime is well-worn.
