1964 D With Possibly Doubled Mintmark, Or Is It Damage?

Hey everyone! I found this today while coin hunting and it appears to have doubling on the mintmark. It is a circuated coin, and also appears to be a weak strike. Could this just be damage? I usually tend to lean toward damage being the answer, but this one looks different. I appreciate any help and input!

MM took a hit. PMD. Also looks like die polishing in that area too.

A true doubled mint mark is referred to as a RPM, if it has multiples of the same mint mark,DD or DDD or DDDD. If it has a D over S or a S over D it is referred to as an OMM=over mint mark. There can also be MD on a mint mark.

I think the mintmark was damaged, post mint.
