Was mainly used as a bullion coin before bullion coins where a thing, seem to be in old stackers silver piles a lot. There mintage is something I don't know much about. Princetane Pillar of the Community 4628 Posts	Posted 06/11/2021 06:14 am The U is AUST is a V, so straight away you know its a restrike. Original coins minted from 1780 to 1792 had the V as a U. These were minted right up to the 1970s and used as bullion dollars in the Middle East, most of Africa and in Asia. Along with Mexican and Peruvian silver pesos and sols, these were the most reliable money of their day. Abyssinia even counted their currency in Thalers before the 1940s because of these coins.
