My local bank will still let me exchange them for face value, so it's still worth £1. Pristine Uncirculated ones are worth a little more, but not much as 1983 was the first year of issue and large numbers were put aside at the time. saxon Valued Member United Kingdom 54 Posts	Posted 06/21/2021 11:15 am It's a common misnomer that the edge lettering being upside down is a minting error, in fact around 40% of one pound and two pound coins have the edge lettering the wrong way round as it it an indication of which way the blank drops into the minting press.
