So I just came across this quarter with straight line clip missing, that I threw to the side thinking it was done after it left Philly, but I just noticed it's still reeded on that edge? Is this an example of a clipped planchet or someone having fun with their brand new dremmel tool?

The pic looks like there is a bulge or bump, but it's flat and straight! can't see anything when you look at width

Not a legit clip. You can still see the full rim on the reverse.

That area was flattened inwards. Note the reed lines inside of the damaged area. They would not be there on a clipped coin. The coin was altered.
