Hi was wondering if this 1998 half dollar was a error has smooth ridge and weird look to it any info is appreciated

Not sure about the ground down part got it out of a roll from the bank it was in a roll with a bunch of really nice 71s 72s 73s a d so on

Could have been ground down long before it ended up in a roll. I'm seeing a good dose of post-strike damage.

It was struck in collar so it would have had ridges when it was struck.
They have been smoothed down after it left the mint. PMD

It wasn't struck that way. The coin is now damaged.
