Found another possible while roll hunting. Is this a clipped planchet, or is it damage or a fake?

That is about a 3 to 5 % clipped planchet mint error I think but a look at the area of the rim would maybe help. ( The coin from the side. )
I say this because the raised part of the rim appears to fade a bit toward the outer ends of the clip. A cut coin or grinded coin would have abrupt rim ends.

Clip. I do believe. The weak rim directly opposite the clip should confirm.

If it is a clip, what kind of value would this coin likely have?

looks like a clip, there is some evidence of the Blakesley effect on the reverse, but hard to see.

Value?
Not a whole lot, but very collectible.

Hi,

It is a coin struck on an incomplete planchet. They are commonly called clips. The planchet is missing a portion before the coin is struck. One with this small amount missing would be in my estimation a $10.00 to $15.00 coin.

Have Fun,
Bill

Clipped planchet, genuine mint error, worth on the order of $15-20 depending on if someone needs the date. nice find in a roll, clips that large tend to be caught by the rolling equipment.
