I have a very similar 1900-S 25c in AU58 with luster break in right obverse field, no obvious wear otherwise, minor scratches, perfect reverse. I think it's the luster break that gets you AU. I'll take one of these over a beat up MS62 any day. Nice coin.

A very nice AU! As others have said, would take it over a beat up MS coin all day.

If you paid AU-58 price for it, you did good. It is a solid 58+ coin.
