What's Going On With This 1921-P Peace Dollar?

srs77 Pillar of the Community United States 3278 Posts	Posted 07/02/2026 12:30 pm Only a guess but it looks like toning that got close to lady liberty but want able to get closer for some reason. Notice the toning is on lady liberty. My guess is whatever was causing the toning couldn't get into the high points on the obverse. Report this Post to the Staff

Brandmeister Pillar of the Community United States 6611 Posts	Posted 07/04/2026 1:37 pm On Jefferson nickels, it is not unusual for dies with heavy fatigue or PIDT to develop a sunken halo with a different texture immediately around the bust perimeter. I'm not familiar with Peace dollar striking, though. It could be toning as has already been suggested. Report this Post to the Staff
