Don't hold your breath for anything having to do with a 40th Anniversary set this year. The 2 dual date ASEs we're getting are going to have to do. Edited by Gilly 07/10/2026 11:11 am

Great Topic Gilly, Why did We not see an American Silver Eagles Bullion Series 40th Anniversary coin, Set? IMO, 2026 is a Milestone for the series, The series was placed on hold, Far toooo many Product Schedule releases to properly celebrate in obvious. We are seeing Greed, and Gluttony on the U S Mint's site celebrating America's 250th Anniversary, One ounce of Gold Liberty Bell, $19,500.00. Sorry to All who Dreamed, .......Thanks MOJO...

Even if they wanted to produce a single ASE for the event, would that have been hard? Here's my dream ASE for it. Keep the type 2 obverse, 40th anniversary privy of some kind, maybe just "40th". Type 1 reverse. S proof like in 1986, if they'd allow that. Maybe dual date it like the semi Q issues, but 1986-2026. IDK, they could have done something. Oh, and make it limited, but the way this Hollis thinks, he'd probably make 40 of them and auction them to his friends. That's the trend I seen to be noticing. Limited is fine, so limited they sell them at Stack Bowers is NOT cool. (I'm actually surprised the Liberty Bell shaped coins and medal didn't have an even lower production and go through Stack Bowers. Making up for it by selling it all, IDK probably 3X more than they really need too. I'm not sure, but almost want to describe it as grifting. Maybe not the right word). At least the email sent (I imagine many of us got it) does "attend" to the 40th Anniversary of the ASE, but my take away is "enjoy what you have, that's all there is". Unless they are setting us all up for a surprise. But I WON'T be surprised if whatever it is goes to auction, and my ASE collection is forever without that one thing because they went for $50,000 at auction.

Well Said Gilly, Auctioning off collectibles is Not a nice Reflection for the Mints, I agree... Your Dream ASE is a Sweet Historic idea, All Honors Should go to the Granite Lady, San Francisco. The Type 1 Reverse is an Awesome design I Adore, The Reverse Should be the Type 1 Too....... A Truly Historic design, Brought back on The 40th Anniversary of the First ASE releases, also Cool idea the " 1986-2026 " dual-dates.... I also like the Limited idea, Collectors need/seek Low mintage, Once in a lifetime releases that will Enhance the series. So, Then the 2026 40th Anniversary American Silver Eagle " set " will be complete Once the 2026 Enhanced Uncirculated ASE is in Hand, For us All...... Thanks Again Mojo, Great topic.....

Another 40th Anniversary idea. Make a normal proof or Uncirculated, either an S (preferred) or W, maybe with a 40 or 40th privy, with the lettered edge, "40th Anniversary" like they did in 2016. Just make it more exclusive than 2016 was, just an Anniversary edition. (I'd rather leave Philly out of it and let the P proof remain as it is, congrats set- specific) I heard the mint really disliked doing that lettered edge. I'd assume by "hating" they mean lots of rejects. I'd also heard the same about the EU back in 2013, and so far we've seen how different the EU is this year, seems a lot simpler this time around, not as complex, but we'll see here in a couple weeks what the ASE EU will look like in hand. Not getting my hopes up. Predicting it'll be like the gold eagle EU.

Nice idea too, I have not been a fan of the edge lettering. It served a purpose back in 2016 in the ASE series, Just my thoughts, The edge lettering leaves a void , if you will, when holding the OGP'g in hand the capsule hides that feature....... I am Very excited about the 2026 Enhanced Uncirculated American Silver Eagle coming out Soon, The Uncirculated Deserves the Honors,......
