I've looked at it at every angle, and, it seems to remain there. But now that I've posted it, I see other nickels which at first look similar, then seem to disappear when rotated. My thought is that it might be an early die state coin with little die wear in this area. Maybe that is the edge of the bone around the eye that is visible because of this being a VEDS coin. Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow. Report this Post to the Staff

Interesting thought! Determining a die state is beyond my coin knowledge. My guess is somewhat early, though, because I don't notice much Die Deterioration or any other type markers. Unfortunately, the coin is also a little beat up, so that makes it even more difficult for me. Report this Post to the Staff
