Any help would be appreciated. Usually I don't bother with these, but just curious.

Its an earlier Indian Head cent copper nickel I think and then smashed in a vise against another coin, perhaps?

Thanks, I think that's exactly what it is.

One side has a mirror-image of a US cent. The other side is the back of an old brass button.

I suspect it's someone's crude attempt to make a counterfeit cent from a button; presumably it was done back when Indian Head cents were the current design.

I'm not sure what the host item was, it might be a button, might be a token. Can't make out much of th lettering on it. But what ever it is it has been squeezed between two Indian Head cents. (Both sides show a reversed Indian Head cent)

As a teenager, I worked at a iron mill for a time. They had a over head crane that ran on a small set of train tracks. I placed a nickle on a quarter and set them on the track. After the crane went past, the coins were not really flattened, but Jeffersons profile was clearing imprinted onto Washingtons and vise-versa.
