Found this today. The penny is in great condition except for the date. The first 9 reads 1059. It does not look worn at all, its just not there. Is this a case of a broken die or a Die Deterioration?

Thats pretty cool. I found a nickel a few weeks back that was similar except it was a "1090" Nickle. Its most likely a Grease Filled Die or PMD. I think it is fairly common but maybe someone else will chime in. Happy Hunting

Thanks for the info. I was not sure what I had here but your right it is pretty cool, I think I will hang onto it for awhile.

Also if you could get a closer pic of the date it would probably easy to tell if it took a hit or if it was a Grease Filled Die. I don't think it is worth much but I still think its pretty neat.
