Ahoy there everyone. I know I don't post here much, but I recently acquired a 1954 $1000 bill. It isn't in great condition, and I know I can get at least $1000 for it if it turns out its not valuable at all, but I don't know how rare it really is. I have some pictures of it, but they are poor quality:   What do you guys think? |

The Lawson-Bouey signature variety of this bill is by far the most common. It's unforunately not worth much more than face value. Still pretty cool to own one though :)

I was hoping it was at least somewhat collectable. Unfortunately I think I'll have to sell it as I can't justify having $1000 tied up in a single bill. Too bad I can't snag a couple hundred bucks on its face value

ilikeikes $1,000 is the largest note we made which ended in 2000!

I believe the most expensive coin twe ever made was a $1,000,000 gold coin. It actually had a BV of a million bucks when made...there were only something like 6 of them minted.

One of the six sits in the lobby of Sprott Asset Management in Toronto. 100 kilos = 3300 ounces or so = say $5 million today......

Thanks for posting the pic. It's fun to look at. One piece of paper worth $1000 is something you don't see everyday.

That's very true. It drives me nuts that I can hold a flimsy piece of paper in my hand that's worth $1000, I might just try breaking it at a gas station and see what happens.

The thousand has a nice back design, wish I could justify putting one in my collection but with inflation eating away at fiat currency I just can't collect a note that looses so much of its buying power/value each year. I know of a couple of people who have given and received $1000 bills as wedding gifts, seems like an older popular idea (must've invited the wrong people to my wedding, I never got any ).You might get a few extra bucks from a coin shop as this is where these gift givers would likely go to buy them.
