I would say it could be a very good investment depending on the grade and how much you paid for it. Of course it could be a very bad investment depending on the relationship of those two factors!
A person would have to know both of those things to give a good answer.

=> the most I would pay for a 1925 Very Good "penny" is $30 (and even then, it should be very pleasing to look at) ... I would low-ball them and offer $20 and hope for the best

sorry coincollect1, I thought you'd asked about "VG" not "VF" ...
=> 1925 "VF" one cent => maximum I'd invest would be $45 (catalogue), but I'd offer $30 and hope to score

If I had to invest $40 I would certainly not be looking for any miracle as far as return is concerned.Leave your money in the bank and inflation will eat away any gain.Buy the coin.At leat you will have something to look at.

Coins are not an investment. Buy it because you like it. Prices for the coin in question vary widely. It is a key coin for that series but in the general scheme of things, with various collections coming into an already diluted market, it isn't difficult to get at all. If you like it buy it.

well tamarin, "technically" coins really are still an investment, but you're 100% correct => don't buy that coin because you're thinking that it's gonna be a sound investment and you're gonna make a ton of profit when you decide to sell it => buy the coin because you're a numismatic addict like the rest of us ... I'm actually so attached to most of my coins that I'd go as far as saying: => you should only "adopt" that coin, if you promise that you're gonna give it a good home and treat it nicely.

Some say, and I'm probably one, coin collecting is a bit like buying beer. You only rent the stuff. But yet, there are some coins I have I just know will be passed along to mu survivors. They're just too nice to look at to get rid of.

If your looking for an investment coin you wont do too well with this one.In the 60s I wanted to buy one of these 1925 one cents and the average price was $10- $20 in VG or better. A little high for a kid whose income derived from shovelling snow out of driveways in winter and picking up beer and pop bottles for the 2 cents deposit the rest of year. Anyway I just picked one up in VG condition the other day for $14, on average $20 - $30 in VG is about the going price. I think buying spot price silver would be a better investment
