I never buy slabbed coins. I spend a great deal of time learning the dies used and what known fakes look like. I guess I would look out for the 1921 and 1921-d.
Im sure there are alot of people out there willing to make an extra buck by ripping someone off so its always good to buy from a dealer in good standing and willing to take an item back if you are not happy with it.
It wouldn't surprise me if people added mintmarks to make 1925-D or 1926-S, though I don't think I've see one. They're pricey enough in higher circulated grades and they're much less likely than a '16-D to be sought slabbed.
"I never buy slabbed coins. I spend a great deal of time learning the dies used and what known fakes look like" thunbs up to you ! I've seen enough TPG errors to be glad I took the time to learn what I collect.
There are a couple of older contemporary counterfeits that are actually somewhat collectible. 1923-D and 1930-D I haven't actually searched for them but I have seen a 30-D sell for decent money on ebay.
